What is a SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women?
SANKALP is the Ministry of Women and Child Development’s Hub for Empowerment of Women programme. National, State and District Hubs are designed to help women find information about government schemes, services, laws and entitlements, and to connect them with the office responsible for a next step. The Ministry says the information service is open to women regardless of age.
Use the hub to navigate services and entitlements
You can ask which central or State scheme may fit your situation, which department implements it, what the current eligibility rules say, where to apply and how to follow up. A hub can make information easier to find; the department responsible for a scheme decides an application under its rules.
Bring a question, not a perfect application
A short description of your district, concern and goal may be enough to begin: for example, finding childcare, livelihood support, a shelter, legal help or a relevant government benefit. Ask what documents are actually required before handing over originals or sharing sensitive details.
Confirm that a local hub is operating
The Ministry describes hubs at national, State and district levels. Check the official SANKALP page or ask the district Women and Child Development office where the current District Hub is, what its hours are and whether you need an appointment. Local contacts and services can change.

How can you make a scheme referral useful?
Ask for the exact scheme and current rule
Write down the scheme’s full name, the department, who may qualify, where the application is submitted, the deadline if any, and how to check status. Ask for an official website or written checklist. Similar scheme names can have different State rules and eligibility conditions.
Keep a record of what the hub recommends
Note the date, contact person, office address, application number and next action. If the hub refers you elsewhere, ask whether it can provide a phone number, referral note or a named contact. A referral is useful when it tells you who is responsible and how to reach them.
Protect documents and personal information
Ask why each document or personal detail is needed, how it will be used and whether a copy is enough. Do not share OTPs, passwords or bank PINs with anyone offering to secure a benefit. Use official department contacts to confirm payment, status or a request for fees.
If a benefit is delayed or you are turned away
Find the office that makes the decision
Ask the hub to identify the scheme’s implementing department and official grievance contact. A hub can guide you, but it may not approve benefits, change a waiting list or override eligibility rules. Ask the department to explain a rejection or missing document in writing.
Request help with the next step
If an application is incomplete, ask what can be corrected and whether there is a deadline. If you cannot reach the department, ask the District Hub or Women and Child Development office for a referral or grievance route. Keep acknowledgement numbers and copies of responses.
For urgent safety needs, use urgent services
A SANKALP Hub is a scheme-navigation service, not an emergency response. If you are in immediate danger, call 112 where safe. For crisis support, ask about a local One Stop Centre or Women Helpline 181 where it is operational.
SANKALP women’s scheme hub: FAQs
Who can contact a SANKALP Hub?
The Ministry says the hub’s scheme and service information is open to all women irrespective of age. The scheme office still checks the eligibility rules for any specific benefit or service.
Does a SANKALP Hub give or approve money?
The hub provides information, outreach and guidance to help women reach schemes and services. The department administering a scheme decides eligibility, approval and payment under current rules; a referral is not a guarantee of a benefit.
How do I find my District Hub?
Start with the Ministry’s official SANKALP page or contact your district Women and Child Development office. Confirm the location, working hours and current contact before travelling.
Can the hub help with legal or safety support?
It can help identify relevant schemes, laws or referral services. For urgent danger use emergency services; for legal advice contact the District or State Legal Services Authority, and ask a One Stop Centre about coordinated support.
