Patterns we do not use
These shortcuts make public-interest information feel generic, sensational, childish, inaccessible or machine-made.
- —
Typography
No giant all-caps titles, compressed 900-weight display type, monospace microcopy, letter-spaced eyebrows, or intentionally awkward line breaks.
- —
Layout
No bento dashboard, grid of identical rounded cards, random circles, decorative empty half-screens, or colour rotation without semantic purpose.
- —
Components
No default icon circles, pill buttons for every action, decorative badges, non-functional close icons, unnecessary accordions, carousels, glass, gradients or tooltips for essential information.
- —
Content
No campaign slogan in place of a subject title, poetic instruction, unexplained acronym, fake urgency, victim-blaming, or trauma story required for help.
- —
Imagery
No synthetic diverse-women montage, faceless victim photography, staged bruises, generic fist/chain/shield symbols, or identifiable child survivor imagery.
